Aileen has worked professionally as an editor and proofreader since 2019, though she spent many years prior helping friends, family, and employers to improve their creative, academic, and promotional writing. She contracts as a quality control specialist for MedBridge Education‘s online healthcare courses and is a volunteer proofreader for Transformative Works and Cultures, a peer-reviewed academic journal that seeks to promote scholarship on fanworks and practices. She has been an authenticity reader for Penguin Random House as well as a guest speaker at editor David Seidman’s UCLA Copyediting I course. Through her two writing critique groups, she provides feedback to fellow authors whose work has subsequently gone on to be published by HarperCollins and win awards.

Aileen provides line editing, copyediting, and proofreading services on a freelance basis for a variety of written and visual formats, including fiction, nonfiction (both creative and academic), poetry, screenplays/scripts, newsletters, websites/blogs, resumes, and video/graphic content. These services can involve verifying the accuracy and consistency of grammar, spelling, and formatting; fact-checking potential errors; identifying logical discrepancies; revising sentence and paragraph structure for clarity; and following or creating style sheets. She also offers more in-depth developmental editing for screenplays and poetry.
