Photography

Aileen began studying photography in 2003 as an eighth grade independent learning project. Under the mentorship of Christopher Burkett, she learned the basics of nature and landscape photography. She also spent several years working as a photo assistant to Patrick F. Smith on portrait, product, and sports shoots.

In her early years, Aileen primarily shot with slide film on a Minolta XD-11, but she has since migrated to DSLRs and currently shoots with a Canon EOS 80D. In her work, she likes to focus on capturing moments of connection and intimacy, whether it be a butterfly landing delicately on the center of a flower, a portrait model’s fleeting glance into the camera, or the tender touch a couple shares when dancing at their wedding.
